We love our soccer here in Portland. But beyond the inherent disposition that pervades, we love the Timbers and Timbers Army because of things like this.

Ladies,
I love you all, but those bangs are not working.

Mallory’s class does a monthly bring-an-extra-lunch thing for Catholic Charities. She always decorates the bags, and it always makes me a little weepy.
My buddy Bill used to have a great little website called Olympian Shadow Farm. Band stuff, essays, etc. A nice representation of a solid first-gen DIY content site. Bill remains a friend and he remains a great writer and musician, but the site died years ago.
Well, it turns out that someone has been paying the hosting fees for OSF all these years, and Bill alerted all those who contributed to the site. I wrote a few guest pieces; this one is from ten years ago and details a particularly challenging work assignment a few years prior to that.

This is outstanding. And 100% true.
I spent all day and tonight either onstage or backstage, as we made final preps for a national meeting this week. I checked my phone and there was a text from Stacey about Boston.
Our field managers from that area arrived and we immediately were in touch with our center directors in the city.
I texted back-and-forth with Stacey and like anyone, I just wanted to be home with my family. They sent this photo, which is now my favorite thing in the world.
My God bless those families affected today by this horrendous act.
